An opportunity has arisen in the Cardiology team for a support secretary post. . The role holder must have excellent communication skills with an eye for accuracy and detail. The successful candidate should ideally have secretarial experience.The candidate should have effective organisational skills, keeping to deadlines and able to work independently, using their own initiative but also working effectively within a wider team.Main duties of the job

  • Manage patient communications through trust systems to create letters and emails to support the multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure the dispatch and production of all clinical correspondence is maintained by pro-actively monitoring the digital dictation and speech recognition system, and to escalate where delays are identified.
  • To support the wider team to meet targets.
  • Contacting other hospitals to gather information and reports.
  • Liaise with clinical and non-clinical teams across the Trust via email.

  • Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
Desirable
  • Qualified in word processing or audio typing (or equivalent)
Knowledge and ExperienceDesirable
  • Clerical/administrative experience/Secretarial
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Understanding of specialist medical terminology
  • Knowledge of NHS policies and/or procedures
Skills and AbilitiesEssential
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of Accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy team and adjust to change
  • Ability to work independently, managing own workload, whilst providing supervision and support to others
  • Ability to adapt to use new computer packages and programmes
  • Effective organisational skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft packages
  • Ability to deal with non-routine issues on own initiative
  • Attention to detail
