x1 - Care Activities Coordinator - Temporary post - March 2026
Job Summary
Fantastic opportunity to work for a well established, award winning, 'Good/Silver' rated family run Residential Care Home est. 1985. We are on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated Activities Coordinator to join our team and provide a wide range of activities to engage and stimulate the physical, cognitive and social wellbeing of the residents. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents by creating enriching experiences that foster joy and connection within our community.
Duties will include (not an exhaustive list)
Plans, designs and delivers programmes of activities, in consultation with Service users, relatives, care team and management that meet the specific needs and requirements of our residents.
Engages residents in creative, social, sensory and brain training activities such as arts & crafts, arm chair exercise, quizzes, baking, karaoke, ball games, word games, bingo, developing social skills, keeping them active and maintaining links to the community and much more.
Ability to mentally and physically stimulate residents and encourage them to engage in activities.
Must be able to adapt to different environments and difficult situations well and be confident working with behaviours that challenge due to the nature of mental illness.
Able to maintain links with the local community and build good working relationships.
Assist with fundraising activities and events to finance entertainment and outings.
Support all religious practices of residents by arranging events, visits and outings as appropriate.
Proficient in IT skills
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods of time.
Works well in a team and alone.
Read and stay up to date on care plans, acquiring an excellent understanding of the residents and their needs.
Record Keeping - Confident using IT and using electronic recording for care notes and medication.
Requirements
Experience in activities, caring role and/or working with vulnerable people - Essential
NVQ Level 2 Minimum or equivalent - Essential
Maths and English - Essential
Good IT skills - Essential
Experience working with individuals with a mental illness - Desirable
Current DBS on the online update service would be an advantage.
Willingness and experience of delivering personal care (whilst this is not a regular duty all staff as required to do personal care as and when required).
Candidate needs to be flexible, adaptable, use initiative and have high energy to fulfil this multifaceted role.
Able to work well within a team and on a individual basis.
Caring, organised, bubbly, outgoing, person-centred, compassionate, empathic, committed, excellent communication skills, patient and quick learner.
