We're looking for a dedicated Care Assistant to join our Day Centre team providing high quality day care, for elderly members of the community.
Our Day Care service, based at St Catherine's Church Centre, Wakefield WF1 5HL, provides a caring, friendly service for clients requiring varying levels of support. Some of our clients have dementia and/or physical disabilities and we expect our team to support clients in social activities to promote engagement and well-being. This vacancy is for a Care Assistant to work 29 hours per week, Mondays to Fridays inclusive. The Care Assistant will need to work additional hours to cover holidays and/or sickness leave.
Our Day Care service is open five days per week (Monday to Friday) from 9am to 4pm. We have a contract with Wakefield Council for a proportion of clients who are referred and funded by Social Services. The Centre also takes private clients - self funders. The day to day running of the Day Care service is managed by the Day Centre Manager.
The aim of the Centre is to provide high quality day care, thereby assisting people to remain living at home and to provide a break for family members who otherwise provide care. The dignity and independence of Centre users and their carers is respected at all times as are other basic values of privacy, choice, individual rights and personal fulfilment.
We offer a range of activities to our clients, including arts and crafts, singalongs, a variety of games, as well as the occasional outing. Our in-house catering team works with our Carers to provide a two-course hot meal at lunchtime, as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day.
