About Us
Blackdown Support Group is a well-established local charity based in the Blackdown Hills, dedicated to reducing isolation and supporting wellbeing in our rural communities. We offer a range of volunteer-led services which aim to connect people to their communities and reduce isolation, often in areas where public transport and social opportunities are limited.
We're now entering an exciting period of growth and development. As part of this, we're launching a new service - the
Blackdown Care Connections Network
- to help local people access care and support that goes beyond the scope of our volunteer services. This innovative pilot project will link people in need of care with self-employed care workers and micro-businesses, helping to strengthen the local care workforce and support community-based solutions.
About the Role
We're looking for a friendly, organised and proactive
Care Connections Network Co-ordinator
to lead the development of this new service while also engaging with and supporting our valued volunteers.
This is a varied and rewarding role, with two key focuses:
1. Building Blackdown Care Connections Network (Primary focus)
Attracting and retaining new self-employed micro care providers to join the Blackdown Care Connections Network
Marketing the service and building awareness in the local area
Responding to enquiries from potential service users and self-employed care providers
Conducting face to face meetings with service users and providers, DBS and reference checks, and verifying qualifications/insurance as required
Facilitating introductions and supporting both parties through to agreement
Following up to ensure satisfaction and signposting to additional services if needed
2. Network and Volunteer engagement and retention (Secondary focus)
Attracting and retaining new volunteers to Blackdown Support Group's other services and growing existing volunteer coverage of the area
Organising volunteer inductions and facilitating training as necessary
Supporting ongoing engagement of volunteers and micro carers through networking events, communication, and recognition
Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, data protection and other key policies
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking someone with:
Experience in the care sector or of working with vulnerable people
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Confidence in admin and IT systems (including Microsoft Office 365)
A problem-solving approach and ability to work independently
Energetic, flexible, can-do attitude - this is a new and developing service
A team player mindset and a passion for community-based support
The ability to travel independently around the rural Blackdown Hills area
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working directly with people, is highly organised, and wants to make a positive impact in a rural community.
