About the Role





An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time care navigator here at Newport Surgery.



In this essential front-line position, the role is responsible for ensuring that appointment bookings are well-managed, a safe high-quality service is delivered to our patients, patient queries are answered and administration work is completed to a high standard.



The successful applicant will have an excellent telephone manner, be a team player and have the ability to work under pressure and problem solve.



The successful candidate must be flexible to be able to work extra hours to support colleague's sickness and holiday absence.

About the Candidate




To be considered for this position, below is the minimum requirements a candidate must meet:


Essential:





Skills and knowledge:


Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Strong organisational and time-management skills Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Office, clinical systems like EMIS or SystmOne) Understanding of confidentiality and data protection (GDPR) Ability to follow protocols and procedures accurately

Experience:


Previous experience in a customer-facing role Handling telephone enquiries and providing clear information Working as part of a team in a busy environment

Personal attributes:


Professional, polite, and empathetic manner Reliability and punctuality Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure Attention to detail

Desirable:





Skills and knowledge:


Knowledge of NHS systems and processes Familiarity with medical terminology Ability to use clinical software (EMIS, SystmOne, Docman) Understanding of appointment booking and triage processes

Experience:


Previous experience in a GP surgery or healthcare setting Experience with electronic prescription services Handling sensitive or confidential information in a professional manner
