Job Description

Permanent Cook (16 - 32 hours a week contract) required to for a small family run residential care home based in Carlisle catering for 19 residents.



NB: Able to cook healthy and nutritious meals for elderly residents and able to modify foods due to choking risks.



The Home:



This home is a small independent residential home, which has a great reputation and has undertaken a new extension and refurbishment.

The individual must have a clear understanding of food hygiene and fortified diets.

Roles and Responsibilities:



Responsible for the preparation, cooking and serving of nutritionally balanced, attractively presented and special diet meals, snacks and refreshments. Responsible for all food preparation areas for efficiency, hygiene and safety in all catering areas within the Home, complying at all times with Company Policy and Procedure, Health and Safety at work. Responsible and accountability for stock control of all catering items. Responsible for menu changes and menu personalisation. To keep accurate records and information in the kitchen which reflect individual residents nutritional risk assessments and nutritional dietary needs and to make sure that residents receive nutritionally appropriate food and meal options. Responsible for the cleanliness of all food storage areas and equipment.

The Successful Candidate:



At least 1 year experience cooking in a commercial kitchen/care setting

Clear understanding of fortifying meals for those with specific dietary needs.

Ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands, and prioritize tasks.

Satisfactory DBS.

Preparation of the cooking and serving of delicious and nutritious hot and cold meals,

Ensuring all meals are of the highest possible quality and attractively presented.

Providing for special dietary requirements where necessary and taking into account the preferences of individual Clients.

Skills/Qualifications:



Level 2 food hygiene certificate

Full knowledge of safer food better business system

Job Type: Part-time/Temporary

Salary: 12.25 per hour

The Shift Pattern:



Below are the shift patterns available, where you will be put into. This will be on a

part time/full time

basis and be discussed at interview.

Essential

:

Experience in working within a Residential Home and working with older adults in a similar setting

Must be assertive and organised with good leadership skills

Level 2/3 NVQ Health and Social Care is desired

Enthusiastic with great communication and interpersonal skills, both written & verbal English

Desirable:



Level 3 NVQ Health and Social Care or equivalent

Level 2 food hygiene certificate
