To support senior members of staff in all aspects of the homes management. To help in the training of care staff. Main responsibilities
: NVQ/DIPLOMA: LEVEL 3 ADULT SOCIAL CARE REQUIRED
Medication
To Dispense and Administer medication to residents as prescribed, training & homes policies
Complete and sign MAR sheets &homely remedy documentation
Dispense and administer controlled drugs, ensuring a witness is present and double signing.
To sign out un-used medication and return to pharmacy
Re-order medication timely, checking counts daily
Contribute to the monthly re-order of medication
Contribute to the signing in of new monthly medication and monthly change over.
Chase medications with GPs and Pharmacy as required
Report errors and discrepancies to deputy and registered manager timely.
Line Management
To lead and motivate a team of care assistants, supporting performance where required
Daily allocations of workloads, activities and breaks for all care staff
Lead a team of care staff to ensure practices align with homes values and CQC quality statements.
Attempt to cover late sickness to ensure safe staffing.
To support the deputy and registered manager with completion of 3 month supervisions and direct observations of care staff
Professional Support
Respond to incoming calls, calls bells and the main door as appropriate.
To seek health care professional input of MDT including GPs, pharmacy, District Nurses, Physios and OTs
Keep clear, factual but detailed documentation of all interactions with other health care professionals via the CareDocs software.
To obtain following specimens for analysis ; blood, urine, faecal, and sputum {this only if you have been trained and are confident in performing these duties}. Also to ensure changes in medications are updated, and to ensure prescriptions are collected and dispensed for immediate start at GP`s request.
To ensure Service Users families and/or carers are fully aware of the support services offered by Mayflower House.
To contribute and review care plans and risk assessments where there is a change of care needs or 6 monthly, including involvement of the resident, family or contribution.
. Review & Prepare documentation for social workers and other MDTs
Personal Contribution
Maintain a smart and professional appearance.
Complete internal and external training as required
To be flexible to cover evenings - covering annual leave and sickness
To contribute to management communications and staff meetings
To participate in regular on-call
To develop a positive working relationship with current care manager and wider management team
To comply with the homes Health & Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations.
Attend and contribute to staff appraisal meetings.
To maintain confidentiality on all aspects of care and your work within the home.
To have a working knowledge of the homes policies and procedures.
To establish good relationships with, relatives, colleagues, and other people visiting the home.
To communicate to the Manager if any serious difficulty or event occurs.
Answer emergency bells , greet visitors, answer the telephone and door.
To have working knowledge of homes emergency procedures.
Respect Service Users privacy and dignity and ensure property is left safe and secure.
Note : In addition to the responsibilities listed above it may be necessary to perform other duties not listed. Consideration will be given to your skills and status when requesting you to perform these duties.
