Job role and purpose:
Our Care Support Worker is to support our Care Lead and Registered Manager of a mental health rehabilitation service that utilises the Open Dialogue approach and will be responsible for leading the day to day management of the daily life of the people we support with mental health needs within the home ensuring care is of a high standard of care is provided at all times, working with an Open Dialogue approach.
The Care Support role is integral to our business and plays a crucial role in providing compassionate and effective support to individuals residing in a mental health care facility. As this position involves assisting residents with daily living activities, promoting their mental and emotional well-being, and contributing to the overall therapeutic environment, you are required to have a high level of personal skills to develop meaningful relationships with the people we care for using the Open Dialogue approach.
Our Care Support Worker will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of care and support are delivered.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the role are:
Provide personalised care and support people to have a fulfilling life by supporting and developing a positive relationship with our people including their activities of daily living for e.g. personal care, shopping, meal preparation, medication management and make suggestions as needed to ensure positive outcomes for the people we care for.
Support residents in developing and maintaining life skills, fostering independence and confidence.
Monitor residents' physical and mental health, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate staff.
To provide person-centred care and support. Thus, supporting the people we care for to reach their goals.
Deliver individual care plans in partnership with the people we care for, their families and friends and other professionals involved in their care.
To work with the people, we care for to promote a healthy lifestyle supporting exercise and also regular health monitoring
Foster a culture of inclusivity, respect, and empowerment within the service, promoting the rights and dignity of service users.
Facilitate and encourage participation in therapeutic and recreational activities that promote social interaction, skill development, and overall well-being.
Develop positive relationships with residents, providing companionship, emotional support, and encouragement.
Assist in the implementation of individual care plans, ensuring that residents' needs and preferences are respected.
Support the use of the principles of Open Dialogue approach in the delivery of care and treatment to the people we care for, promoting collaborative decision-making and fostering open communication.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including mental health professionals, nurses, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care.
Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and external professionals, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Document care activities, incidents, and observations accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.
Adhere to the policies of the organisation to ensure quality of the care we provide
Health and Safety
Ensure a safe and clean living environment for residents by following health and safety policies and procedures.
Assist in the management of risks associated with residents' mental health, ensuring that appropriate safety measures are in place.
Support Medication management for those people we care for.
Respond to emergencies and incidents promptly, following established protocols and procedures.
Training and Development
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in mental health care.
Engage in reflective practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of care services within the facility.
Participate in supervision and engage in a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
