Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

1. To contribute to the work of a residential and supported living group home as a team player, to meet the highest quality standards of care and the requirements of the relevant local authority's Care Homes Inspection Unit and Ofsted, ensuring that the residents and learners' needs are met.

2. Under the direction of the line Managers, Headteacher and senior support workers, support and empower residents and learners to develop skills that ensure they experience the highest possible quality of life.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To create and maintain good relationships with residents to ensure that they are fully involved in all decision-making processes that affect their lives.

2. To ensure that good relationships with residents' families and advocates are developed and maintained and that they are consulted and supported through any changes and/or developments that may affect the lives of residents.

3. To assist residents where necessary with feeding and personal care.

4. To assist and enable residents to access toilet facilities appropriate to their needs

5. To contribute to the protection of residents from abuse.

6. To support and enable residents/learners to achieve their full potential in all forms of communication.

7. To support and enable residents/learners to achieve their full potential in all aspects of mobility.

8. To participate in the assessment and review of residents'/learners' lives through the Individual Planning Process.

9. To participate in the identification of residents'/learners' needs and in delivering strategies to meet those needs in areas including recreation, leisure, home, cultural, educational and development

10. To participate in the process of empowering residents/learners to achieve self-advocacy and independence through the development of their learning potential.

11. To support residents/learners in developing positive relationships with relatives, other service users, professionals and staff.

12. To promote non-aggressive and non-abusive behaviour and manage challenging behaviour providing support at times of distress.

13. To accompany and support resident's/learners' activities, outings and holidays as required.

Please note:

- All applicants must have clear and valid Enhanced DBS (willingness to obtain, if not available)

- A minimum of Level 2 Diploma/Award/Certificate in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or willingness to obtain NVQ level 3 diploma certificate)

- Experience working in Supported Living Accommodation projects

- Experience of working with challenging adults with LD, MH support needs and Autism

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 26,000.00-27,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

London SE6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:

working with clients with LD, MH and Autism: 2 years (required) Care Worker: 2 years (required)
Work Location: In person
