Fast Forward School is an emerging independent specialist school in Hull, currently working towards registration with the Department for Education. We are awaiting our initial DfE inspection and are developing a high-quality provision for learners who are unable to access or thrive in mainstream education. Our school is designed to support young people with SEND, SEMH, and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) through a personalised, vocationally focused curriculum that prioritises engagement, inclusion, and positive post-school outcomes.
We are seeking a Careers Lead to design, lead, and embed a high-quality careers programme that inspires ambition, supports progression, and meets statutory guidance and inspection requirements.
The Role
The Careers Lead will have responsibility for strategic oversight and day-to-day delivery of careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) across the school.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and implementing a whole-school careers strategy aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks
Providing personalised careers guidance for learners with SEND and SEMH needs
Coordinating work-related learning, vocational pathways, and employer engagement
Developing strong links with local employers, colleges, training providers, and apprenticeships
Supporting learners with post-16 transitions, including applications, interviews, and next-step planning
Ensuring careers education is embedded across the curriculum, particularly within vocational subjects
Maintaining accurate destination data and evaluating impact
Supporting inspection readiness (Ofsted) and statutory compliance
Working closely with pastoral, SEND, and leadership teams to ensure careers guidance is inclusive and aspirational
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience in careers guidance, education, youth work, or post-16 pathways
Understands the barriers faced by learners with SEND, SEMH, or disrupted education histories
Is confident delivering 1:1 guidance and group sessions
Can build positive relationships with learners, families, and external partners
Has knowledge of the Gatsby Benchmarks and statutory careers guidance
Is organised, proactive, and passionate about improving life chances
A Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification is desirable but not essential (support may be offered to achieve this).

The opportunity to shape and lead a meaningful careers provision in a growing specialist school
A supportive, values-driven team focused on outcomes and wellbeing

Ongoing professional development and progression opportunities
A school culture built on relationships, consistency, and aspiration
