Duties

Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences. Help clients with mobility, including transferring from bed to wheelchair or assisting with walking. Implement care plans tailored to individual client needs, ensuring adherence to prescribed routines. Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being. Monitor and document changes in clients' health status, reporting any concerns to healthcare professionals. Support behaviour management strategies as needed for clients with specific challenges. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring hygiene standards are met.

Skills

Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to caregiving practices. Knowledge of first aid procedures and emergency response techniques. Experience in assisted living or hospice care settings is highly desirable. Strong understanding of senior care principles and best practices. Ability to develop and follow care plans effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and their families. Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others are essential traits for this role. Competence in meal preparation that caters to the nutritional needs of clients.
