Cloyda is a friendly, family-run residential care home for elderly people. We look after up to 34 residents, some with dementia. We aim to create a homely, safe environment for our residents and all of our staff are well trained and committed to their care.
We require a dedicated and conscientious care assistant to join our friendly team on a part-time basis. We're seeking a caring and compassionate individual who enjoys interacting with the elderly and assisting them with their daily living activities. Candidates must be warm and friendly, with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for providing our residents with high quality care and support. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, well-organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience - either paid or voluntary - is preferred, but not essential and full training will be given.

Job Purpose
To look after the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of our Residents using a person-centred approach.
To observe and promote the Resident's choice, independence, dignity, privacy, fulfilment and other rights.
To create and maintain good professional relationships with Residents, their family and friends and other stakeholders.
To actively support other Care Workers.
To adhere to all regulatory and statutory obligations and policies, procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities
To provide personal care and support to Residents with a wide range of needs, including physical and mental challenges.
To know and understand the care and support of the Resident.
To undertake the tasks detailed in the Resident's care and support plan using a person-centred approach and in the least intrusive way.
To encourage the independence and motivation of the Resident.
To provide input into the care and support plans of residents.
To assist Residents getting up in the morning and going to bed at night
To assist Residents to wash, bath and shower
To assist Residents to dress and undress
To assist Residents to look after their skin, teeth, hair and nails
To assist/support residents with administration of all medication requirements
To assist Residents with toileting, continence management and personal hygiene
To assist Residents with their medication at the agreed level of support and as detailed in their Medication Needs Assessment.
To prepare food and drink for the Resident, being aware of the Resident's choice, preferences, nutritional needs and cultural requirements.
To provide light general household domestic duties, including housework and laundry, as detailed in the care plan or instructed by Management
To use manual handling equipment safely and correctly
To take responsibility for the safe handling of property and equipment belonging to the Resident
To maintain good communication and develop effective working relationships with Residents
To provide companionship to the Resident, actively talking and listening to them about their interests
To help the Resident to maintain contact with their family and friends
To ensure as safe as possible the living environment for the Resident, whilst respecting the Resident's choice and rights
Recording and Reporting
To maintain detailed accurate records in respect of care needs
To regularly read care and support plans, acknowledging changes
To protect the confidentiality of all information relating to the Resident and not divulge information to anyone who is not authorised to receive it
To continue to monitor where concerns have been reported and recorded
To recognise the signs of abuse and immediately report abuse or suspected abuse to the safeguarding point of contact.
To report any complaints to the deputy manager.
General
To dress appropriately, wearing uniform and using personal protective equipment.
To seek out best practice and look at innovative ways to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery
To attend and participate in regular team meetings and any other relevant meetings
To attend in house and external training pertinent to the role of Care Worker
To observe all health & safety rules and take reasonable care to promote health and safety of self and others and raise any concerns to the senior carer or managers.
To ensure everyone has equal treatment and equal access to services.
Any other duties requested by Senior Management, which are within the scope of the post
Attributes
You should be patient, kind and empathetic.
Good team worker - you will be working as a close team, sometimes in pairs to assist certain Residents.
Calm, confident and professional - our Residents sometimes become distressed, as part of their dementia for example, and you will need to remain calm and reassuring. Support will always be available from our experienced Senior Carers, if you need assistance.
