PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To support carers achieve their own wellbeing goals, with a specific focus on employment and lifelong learning, volunteering opportunities/community-based activity.
To work with carers and their communities/business communities on carer initiatives that promote carers needs in the workplace and wider community. This will include training, promotion, practical advice and support, signposting as required.
To raise the profile of carers in the community, in local businesses and in local leisure and travel facilities etc. This may include supporting carers into paid employment, lifelong learning and volunteering.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-To identify carers who would like to explore opportunities that they feel will support their wellbeing and ensure they are aware of the services/support available in the county
-Work with carers to actively promote and facilitate carer needs assessments. Supporting carers to identify the areas of wellbeing they feel they need support with, developing support plans and reviewing
-Working inline with the Social Services and Wellbeing act and adhering to national standards of conduct
-To work with carers to develop carer friendly initiatives, letting carers take the lead in their communities and develop projects that matter to them
-Ensure information around legislation affecting carers is cascaded to businesses
-Develop working partnerships with relevant agencies/businesses/stake holders to promote and support carers
-Carer Friendly Initiatives will be developed co-productively with Carers in Flintshire as equal partners
-Provision of support to carers and volunteers to access volunteering initiatives and opportunities that matter to the carer
-Provision of support to carers when their caring role ends and supports their inclusion into their local community through accessing employment/training/education/volunteering and community involvement
For carers who wish to pursue employment/volunteering, develop links with employers and support services e.g. Careers Wales/Job Centre Plus/ Private employers
-Recruitment and training/support of volunteer team working with the training officer to facilitate training
-To input to the NEWCIS and F.C.C./BCUHB/F.L.V.C. web pages to keep information accessible and current
-Work with partners in the statutory and voluntary/community sectors to provide appropriate external representation of carer issues, including the Local Health Board and the Flintshire Carers Steering Group
-Maintain all NEWCIS monitoring procedures and contribute to day to day running of the NEWCIS Flintshire office
-Maintain and ensure confidentiality over personal information relating to individual users of NEWCIS and practice information
-Keep appropriate records of work undertaken and provide regular progress reports against objectives of post to the NEWCIS Advisory Committee, BCUHB and Flintshire Adult Social Care
-Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Management team.
