Role:

Carers Wellbeing Officer for Pembrokeshire



Salary: 24,920 per annum pro rata

Hours: 21 hours per week

Annual Leave: 25 days per annum plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata)

Location: Haverfordwest

Contract: Fixed term until 30th September 2027

Join a dedicated team within Carers Support Pembrokeshire Service, working in partnership with local organisations to identify and support unpaid carers across Pembrokeshire. You'll provide vital information and guidance to help carers manage their roles and help to improve their wellbeing. This role gives you the opportunity to make a real difference in your community.

OVERALL AIMS OF THE POST:



Working in partnership with other statutory, voluntary, and private sector organisations to identify carers throughout Pembrokeshire. Provide information and support to carers enabling them to better manage the impact of their caring role. Work with partners to ensure carers are supported to access other existing services.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Experience - Essential



Direct experience of working for a support service and achieving positive outcomes for beneficiaries

Experience of Information and advice giving

Working with and implementing policies, procedures and guidance.

Solution focussed / problem solving ability.

Experience - Desirable



Experience of networking and liaising with a range of statutory and voluntary organisations

Qualifications

- Essential



A good standard of general education or ability to demonstrate relevant experience.

Level 3 Diploma in Advice & Guidance (or a commitment to achieve this)

Qualifications

- Desirable



NVQ/QCF in a relevant subject e.g., Health & Social Care

Skills and abilities

- Essential



Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

An empathetic, compassionate and supportive manner and an ability to deal with queries from individuals who are distressed in a sensitive manner.

An ability to communicate complex information using clear language on carers rights over the telephone, in writing or by email

Highly organised working methods with an ability to write and update accurate records

Ability to use IT effectively including email, Word, and experience of using data bases.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to use your initiative and work independently and as part of a team.

Solutions focussed and problem solving abilities

Ability to plan, prioritise and manage workload.

Good self-awareness and commitment to continuous professional development.

Skills and abilities

Understanding of relevant legislation

Ability to communicate in Welsh.

Knowledge - Essential



An understanding of carers and the impact of caring.

A good knowledge of health and social care provisions and pathways into services

Clear understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act and own and others' responsibilities.

Knowledge - Desirable



An understanding of the Social Services & Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015

An understanding of the statutory and third sector support service provision in Pembrokeshire.

Other - Essential



Valid Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes

A commitment to maintain and develop quality standards and quality services and good practice within Carers Trust Crossroads West Wales

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
