Are you a hands-on, proactive individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment? Surbiton High School is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our dedicated team.

As part of our professional Caretaking Team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our 11 school sites, supporting everything from day-to-day maintenance to larger improvement projects during school holidays. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a vibrant school community where no two days are the same.

What You'll Be Doing:

Supporting the safety and security of pupils, staff and visitors across all school sites. Assisting with opening and closing procedures, responding to emergencies, and supporting fire safety practices. Carrying out minor repairs, general maintenance, and ensuring the school grounds are clean and well-presented. Helping with deliveries, setting up for school events, and liaising with contractors. Contributing to planned maintenance and refurbishment projects during school holidays.

What We're Looking For:

Experience in a caretaking or maintenance role is desirable. Practical skills in general repairs and maintenance. A flexible, can-do attitude and a strong commitment to health and safety. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Computer literacy and a willingness to learn (First Aid and machinery training can be provided).

Why Join Surbiton High School?

Be part of a supportive and professional team. Work across a diverse and well-resourced school estate. Enjoy generous staff benefits including complimentary lunches, fee reduction for children, and access to CPD opportunities. Make a meaningful contribution to a school that values character, community and excellence.

We're looking for someone who shares our ethos: to inspire, encourage and empower every pupil and colleague to be the very best they can be.

Please refer to the and Person Specification for further details. Surbiton High School is culturally diverse and fully committed to celebrating and respecting inclusion and diversity throughout our community. Surbiton High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, the Disclosure and Barring Service and online/social media searches. Please note that the School reserves the right to appoint at any stage during the recruitment process.
