Job Description


The role will include a wide range of responsibilities and duties connected with the grounds and premises maintenance, security and health and safety of our site and includes looking after and helping our cleaning team as well as covering some cleaning duties during cleaner\'s absence.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES

  • To be responsible for the ordering, cleaning equipment and materials and the secure storage thereof.
  • To report to the Business Manager all matters relating to the premises, cleaning equipment and materials.
  • To carry out caretaking duties as directed by the Headteacher (or other designated person) as outlined on the job information sheet. E.g. minor repairs to fabric of building and/or equipment.
  • To be a key holder for the school premises and to be responsible for the routine and nonroutine (e.g. emergencies) opening and closing of the premises.
  • To be responsible for the regular checking and testing of the fire alarm warning system, recording the event and any issues arising. Checking heating, water and testing battery banks for emergency lights where relevant. Regular checking and recording the condition and safety of tools and equipment in line with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. Reporting any failures to the Business Manager
  • To ensure that all external areas, paths and drives remain free from litter and hazardous materials and that all drains and gullies are free flowing and clean as appropriate. To clear pathways of snow and apply salt when required keeping records of this action.
  • To deal with lettings as agreed with the Headteacher.
The hours are 25 per week, worked in split shifts, usually 2 hours each morning and 3 hours each afternoon. There is an expectation to work during the school holidays, but the hours on these days can be more flexible.
