Carry out reasonable duties as instructed by the Operations Officer to support the function and cleaning of the establishment.
Attend to the opening and closing of the premises at designated times and ensure general security at all times, including responding to call-outs at unsociable hours or weekends.
Oversee the efficient working of heating plant and lighting, monitor fuel consumption, and maintain records as per energy conservation instructions.
Receive and check goods and supplies, distribute them as necessary, and report any defects affecting health and safety to the Headteacher.
Perform handyperson duties, such as replacing sink plugs, fixing loose screws, and repairing toilet seats.
Maintain a site diary and report defects on buildings, furniture, fittings, and plant as required.
Replenish soap, towels, dispensers, and toilet paper across the site as necessary.
Ensure all refuse is disposed of to a designated point and carry out daily internal cleaning up to 2 meters high.
Conduct daily cleaning of internal glass up to 2 meters and undertake emergency cleaning as directed.
Test the fire alarm system, check fire exits, and maintain the fire log.
Contribute to risk management of outside practices and assist with school farm operations daily.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate:
Experience working in a team and performing basic clerical/administrative tasks.
Experience with building security duties, including alarm setting and carrying out cleaning duties.
Knowledge of the roles of educational staff, principles of alarming and securing premises, site management, and health & safety.
Willingness to promote and abide by the principles of Equal Opportunities as per the Authority's policy.
Ability to use practical skills to improve the site and buildings, deal with emergencies positively, and work independently with good self-motivation.
Capability to use basic power tools for repairs, anticipate and reduce risks, develop efficient working methods, and communicate effectively.
