Caretaker/Maintenance Assistant (Fixed term contract)
LOCATION:
Woodhouse Grove School, including Bronte House
HOURS OF WORK:
Monday to Friday all year round.
40 hours per week with 1 hour unpaid break per day
Agreed shifts (can be fixed) between 6:30am and 10:30pm. (6:30am to 3:30pm, 9am to 6pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm)
Plus 6 Saturdays or Sundays a year on a rota.

Fixed term contract to 31 August 2026
RATE OF PAY
12.60 per hour
BENEFITS
20 days holiday pa rising to 25 after 5 years' service.
Plus 3 occasional days between Christmas and New Year, in addition to statutory bank holidays.
On site meal whilst on duty.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Senior Caretaker
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Undertaking caretaking and maintenance tasks.
SUPERVISION AND
Supervision and guidance on working practices and procedures
GUIDANCE:
will be provided by the Senior Caretaker or any person delegated to act on their behalf.
LIST OF DUTIES
Ensure the security and integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols and monitoring third party lettings.
To undertake a variety of repair and maintenance, including decorating, plastering, plumbing, joinery and other general ad hoc repairs.
General porter type duties including transportation of furniture, equipment and materials.
Responding to emergency situations, for example; fire alarm activations.
Escorting and assisting contractors on site.
Lock up and secure the school on a rota basis, including dedicated late evening shift.
Testing of swimming pool water (training will be provided).
Emptying the external and internal bins, in conjunction with the cleaning team.
Car parking and other duties at special school events, often out of standard hours ie Summer Fair.
To assist with Health & Safety checks such as: Legionella, Fire alarm testing, emergency lighting, visual checks of the building etc.
Drive the School minibus (Training will be provided - non-essential).
