Job Description

Momart has a casual position in the Packing and Casemaking Department. Reporting to the Packing Manager, you will be involved in the various aspects of handling and shipping fragile works of art, including operation of workshop plant and machinery, fabrication, wrapping, packing, and completion of operational paperwork.

Job Purpose:

To ensure that works of art in Momart's care are handled appropriately and with the utmost care, based on their specific needs. To manufacture and prepare packing systems that reduce and control the risk of damage to artworks in transit.

Key Tasks:

Safe handling of works utilising lifting equipment appropriate to the task. Fabrication and preparation of packing systems, linings and wraps. Operation of plant and machinery within workshop in accordance with Momart's training and operation procedures. Executing tasks in an expedient and timely manner Manual handling of a range of objects, some of which may be heavy. Wrap and pack fragile art objects (intensive training given). Completion of operational paperwork. Assess and record condition of artworks. Following procedures as required by company security policy. Communicate with job planners and co-ordinators as necessary. Take responsibility for informing supervisors of stock levels. Keeping the workshop environment safe and tidy. Work closely with other technicians, sharing skills and knowledge in a pro-active way. Follow Health & Safety procedures according to company policy, in line with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
Skills & Personal Qualities:

Flexible individual - hours of work may vary according to business needs. Able to work closely with other technicians. An understanding of the fragility and importance of the items being handled. An approachable communicator who is comfortable with dealing with all levels of the public Conscientious individual who is positive, motivated, vigilant, and responsible. Demonstrates a good understanding of Momart's security programme and their role in it. Assists colleagues, customers and Suppliers in resolving security issues and escalating where necessary.
