Job summary
The Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) is a specialised, independent judicial body whose principal statutory functions are to hear appeals in respect of decisions made by competition and regulatory authorities and claims for damages (to recover losses caused by infringements of competition law) brought by individual / groups of claimants. Its jurisdiction in competition and economic regulatory cases extends to the whole of the UK and is central to the UK's competition system.###
Job description
You will be supporting the work of the Registry in ensuring that the CAT cases are conducted effectively and according to the statutory rules of procedure. You will conduct administrative duties and supportive tasks to ensure strict timetables are adhered to and hearings are conducted appropriately.
Key Accountabilities
Undertake all casework duties involved in handling applications effectively and in accordance with legal requirements and agreed procedures
Maintain case filing systems and ensure hearings go ahead as planned
Gain exposure to the administrative handling of cases, from registration to final judgment
Arrange internal and external hearing logistics (throughout the UK, sometimes remote), while ensuring that appropriate security measures are in place and staff are available and briefed for the various required postings
Support the Registry team in dealing with general queries from parties, legal representatives and members of the public about the status of cases, maintaining confidentiality at all times
General office support, including photocopying, post opening, labelling, scanning, registering and filing of documents both in hard copy and electronically

Previous experience in an administrative role
Background knowledge of or an interest in law
Experience working in a law firm or similar organisation
