We are looking for a junior lawyer to join the Cash Management Legal team at Barclays as an AVP Legal Counsel. This is a fantastic opportunity to build experience in a dynamic in-house legal environment supporting our cash management and payments business.
The role is part of a collaborative and high-performing team that provides legal support to the Corporate Banking division. You will be working closely with more senior lawyers and business stakeholders to help facilitate the delivery of strategic and day-to-day initiatives across the cash management product suite.
Key Responsibilities:
Support senior legal counsel in providing legal advice on cash management products and services.
Assist with reviewing, drafting, and negotiating standard form agreements and supporting documentation (e.g. cash management agreements, service contracts).
Carry out legal research and assist with analysing regulatory changes and their potential impact on the business.
Help coordinate and track the implementation of legal input on product developments, regulatory projects, and operational changes.
Work collaboratively with colleagues in legal, compliance, risk, and product teams.
Escalate complex or high-risk matters to senior lawyers, contributing to risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
Essential Criteria:
Qualified lawyer (UK or equivalent)
A keen interest in the financial services sector, particularly in payments and digital banking.
Willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced, evolving legal and regulatory landscape.
Strong foundational understanding of contract law and regulatory frameworks relevant to payments and banking.
Ability to draft and review legal documentation with attention to detail and appropriate oversight.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach.
Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at different levels.
This fulltime, permanent role can be based in Birmingham, Glasgow or Manchester.
