We're looking for compassionate and empathetic volunteers who share our vision to transform the lives of people experiencing the Justice System.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Every volunteer gets something different, especially when it comes to growing skills, knowledge and experience for the future.

We've been around since 2005, now based inside the Courts in Exeter, Newton Abbot, Plymouth, Bodmin and Truro. We give free, confidential, practical help and emotional support for anyone going through court and into life beyond.

Our Justice System does not always address the root causes of crime. Anyone can end up at court alone, feeling powerless, trapped and terrified.

We are free, and independent of the system.

We sit down and listen.

We build trust and use our knowledge and connections to find solutions to complicated situations.

We guide towards positive change and stay by their side for as long as they want us.

Can you help?

Duties

- Giving practical advice to people facing the Justice System

- Emotional support for people in crisis

- Sitting alongside people in court

- Capturing information and updating our database with confidential information

Requirements

- Accurate data entry
- Communication skills
- Willingness to learn
- Empathy and compassion for people who have experienced many difficulties in life
- Strong administrative skills for organizational tasks
- Passion for social justice and supporting people in crisis
- Belief that it is possible to reduce the risk of re-offending by intervening at the right stage
