The Opportunity:

Sunderland Association Football Club is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Tutor to join our Academy Education team on a casual, seasonal basis. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in the academic development of our academy players, helping them succeed both on and off the pitch.

In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering small group tutoring sessions in Key Stage 3 and 4 English. You will be part of the Academy's day-release education programme, ensuring students receive consistent, high-quality learning experiences.

You will plan and teach lessons based on a tailored scheme of learning that reflects the time available and the needs of your students. Using school data, you will design lessons that support each learner's progress toward their academic targets. You will carry out regular assessments and adjust your teaching accordingly to ensure the best outcomes.

As part of the team, you will also take part in professional development opportunities and work closely with colleagues to help players exceed expectations. Ultimately, you will contribute to the continued development of an outstanding education programme within a high-performance sporting environment.

What We Ask For:

We are looking for someone who is not only an excellent educator but also understands the unique environment of working within elite youth sport.

To be considered for the role, you must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be working towards it, along with a degree in a subject relevant to English education. You should also have experience teaching in the secondary school sector and a strong track record of delivering high-quality teaching and learning.

It would be an advantage if you have experience working in education within a sports or academy setting. Additional experience teaching functional skills English or delivering English or another subject, up to A-Level would also be beneficial.

An Enhanced DBS from Sunderland AFC is required.

Why Join Us at SAFC:

At Sunderland AFC, you're not just becoming part of a football club; you're entering a vibrant community fuelled by passion and pride. Our commitment to making a difference means you'll engage with local initiatives that truly matter, allowing you to leave a positive impact right here at home.
