Job description 1

We are the Environment Agency. We work with government, councils, businesses, and communities to make our environment cleaner, safer, and healthier for people and wildlife.

In this role you will work with our catchment partnerships and other stakeholders to identify, develop, and deliver partnership projects and funding opportunities. Communicating our local priorities and supporting them to use our data, evidence and processes. Ensuring that we maximise the priority environmental outcomes achieved through their work and any EA funding they receive.

Key responsibilities:

  • Take the lead for a designated catchment, and working with partners through our Catchment Improvements groups you will help identify, develop and deliver a programme of works to achieve water body improvements.
  • Lead on chalk stream engagement for the team and contribute to achieving sustainable abstraction and healthy rivers across chalk catchments.
  • Work with area chalk technical and planning leads you will work with the team to identify, develop and deliver suitable projects to address water resource issues in chalk streams.
  • Develop our engagement and relationships with partners.
  • Work closely with technical leads across the area to identify and deliver our key messages around chalk catchments.
  • Involve stakeholders in development of the area chalk action plan for water resources and work on the engagement section of the plan.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team 1

The Environment Programme team deliver multiple benefits for the local environment, community and business through cost-effective partnership projects and influencing of investment in the environment. Our work achieves wide ranging outcomes, with focus locally on achieving priority outcomes for the water environment via the Water Environment Improvement Fund (WEIF) and our Chalk Stream plan. We are also responsible for programmes for fisheries, water resources and integrating environmental outcomes within flood risk investment.

Experience/skills required 1
  • Professional knowledge and application, to influence and inform stakeholders/regulators, on environmental issues.
  • Working with a high degree of collaboration with internal and external partners/stakeholders to help achieve outcomes for both a specific function/project/team and the wider organisation.
  • Delivering work within a programme and project management framework to time, cost, and quality.
  • Embracing and adapting to change/new ways of working to improve efficiency & productivity.
  • Facilitating value, accountability and performance across the team including assessing how best to use your time to maximise outcomes.

Full UK Driving Licence
