Where will you be working?





As an organisation, there is little we don't do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.



This role is in our

Procurement department,

our Procurement team source, purchase and manage our products and services to ensure the right quality and delivery.

What will you be doing?





As our Category Manager for subcontract services, you'll be part of a new Centre of Excellence that's helping to elevate how we do procurement across M Group. You'll collaborate closely with Commercial teams throughout our divisions to make sure our supply chain is robust, efficient and delivering genuine value--especially where there's overlap and opportunity for smarter, shared approaches.



This role is all about setting the tone and strategy for how we approach subcontract procurement. You'll lead the development of category plans, put in place clear processes, and help roll them out in a way that supports our long-term procurement vision. We'll count on you to uncover new opportunities for cost savings, streamline our supplier base, and negotiate smarter deals that benefit the whole group. You'll be working on some of our most vital spend areas--from civil engineering and traffic management to surfacing, surveying and electrical works.



You'll have the space to build strong relationships with our suppliers and help shape how they work with us--driving innovation, continuity and a true spirit of partnership. By benchmarking rates and analysing trends, you'll unlock insights that help our teams make confident, informed decisions across project delivery and commercial management.



This is a role with real variety and influence. You'll help us harmonise processes across divisions, ensure our ESG commitments are front and centre in how we buy, and act as a trusted voice in identifying where we can be better, faster, more impactful.


What you'll bring



+ A wealth of experience in procurement and/or commercial roles
+ Experience with subcontract supply chain within infrastructure services
+ Proven track record of developing and implementing successful category strategies & sourcing practices
+ Ability to build relationships across a large stakeholder base, influence and act as an expert across the organisation
+ Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
+ Experience with NEC4 contracting practices
