Wirral Hospice St John's provides FREE care for adult patients with life-limiting illnesses. We also support carers and loved ones; families are at the heart of everything we do.
Although some NHS funding is received, the majority of our income is donated by individuals, families, groups, companies and charitable trusts. Every penny counts and helps us to make a real difference to the specialist care and support we provide for our patients and their loved ones.
We are looking for a flexible, punctual, reliable, and committed individual to join our Catering team by providing additional cover at times of need. This may occasionally be at short notice.
You will work under the supervision of the Catering Team Leader and Support Services Manager, maintaining maintain a safe environment within the kitchen area, being aware of your own responsibilities under Health, Safety and Fire Regulations. Prepare patient's meals by cooking light meals as chosen by patients, including home baking. Supervise volunteers working in the kitchen assisting with meal preparations and distribution to the patient.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent team working, interpersonal skills, and have an understanding of basic food hygiene and Health and Safety knowledge in a clinical environment.
A qualification and/or a good awareness of Health and Safety Legislation and ensure HACCP and Environmental Health Standards fully adhered to.
The shift times are generally between 7:00am and 6:30pm on a rota basis from Monday-Sunday. As such we require availability to include weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.
