Hours:

Monday to Friday, 12.00pm until 2.30pm working term time only;

Salary:

6,747 per annum

Job Purpose:



The post offered is Lunchtime Catering Assistant to cover Maternity Leave at the Junior School with effect from January 2026 for up to 12 months (this is to be confirmed).

This role is in our Catering Team who prepare and serve lunch to all children in the Junior School. The successful candidate will help with the preparation of food and setting up the dining hall. During the lunch service the role will be required to either serve meals or work in the dining hall to keep tables cleaned and clearing used crockery and utensils. The role also includes cleaning down in the dining hall and the kitchens at the end of the lunch session. There are opportunities to work additional paid hours for events that run outside of the contracted hours.

Responsibilities



Promote a warm and friendly atmosphere in the dining hall. Assist children with clearing of crockery, cutlery and waste food. Promote excellent levels of cleanliness in the dining hall. Keep the clearing table tidy and clean and taking dirty items to the kitchens throughout the service. Clean dining tables between sittings and clear up any spillages as they occur. Handling food waste. Support the midday team in the supervision of children in the dining hall and assisting children as needed. Assisting with lunch service if requested by the Catering Manager. This would involve serving staff, pupils and visitors at service time to the required standard while promoting a warm, friendly atmosphere. Maintain highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen area, and ensure that the cleaning schedule is completed on a daily basis. Carry out a deep clean as directed by the Catering Manager. Ensure compliance with the School's Health & Safety Policy, COSHH regulations and all statutory health and safety requirements. Maintain a high standard of personal cleanliness and hygiene. Assist in the delivery of events at the School including set-up, serving and clearing. Attend meeting and training courses as may be required for personal and professional development. Undertake other work as may be requested by the Catering Manager up to or at a level consistent with the principal duties and responsibilities of the role. You will have a caring, engaging and patient approach to children aged between 4 and 11 years old, being friendly yet firm, valuing the importance of positive play. All staff are expected to uphold the values of the School by setting an example in attitudes, language and appearance. All staff should promote the general purpose and well-being of the children in their care.
