School Cook Vacancy - Henry Chichele Primary School (Term Time Only, 9am-2pm)

Position Overview

Henry Chichele Primary School is looking for an experienced cook to join our busy kitchen team. We require someone with a proven background in food preparation and a strong commitment to upholding excellent standards of food safety and hygiene. The successful applicant will oversee kitchen operations and work alongside two kitchen assistants.

Please Note: Applicants must have previous experience as a cook to be considered for this role.

This is a term-time position, working Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm. Pay is offered on a pro rata basis.

Main Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a range of meals, following established recipes and menus.

Ensure all food preparation meets food safety regulations and standards.

Use the daily booking system to record meal figures and manage orders.

Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.

Work closely with kitchen staff to guarantee efficient meal preparation and prompt service.

Conduct regular stock checks and order food supplies as needed.

Adhere to allergy policies, catering for a variety of dietary requirements each day.

Essential Experience & Skills

Previous experience as a cook in a restaurant environment, with the ability to prepare up to 150 meals per day.

Thorough understanding of food preparation techniques.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen operations.

Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a busy setting, maintaining high attention to detail.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

All successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check, provided by us. Full training, uniform, and all necessary equipment will be supplied to support you in your daily duties.
