We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Tutor role based at Glasshouse College's Vale Head Farm, Kinver. Glasshouse College specialises in delivering a unique and innovative Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) curriculum to advance the opportunities of young people with complex needs including Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
Glasshouse College provides an innovative and diverse curriculum and our students benefit from an extensive range of nutritional, therapeutic and medical support in each college. Each core element of the educational cycle is designed to establish active and positive relationships with nature and the community through a holistic approach to human development. This supports three key stages: overcoming barriers to learning; becoming skilled and being ready to engage and give back to the community.
The successful applicant will be:
Responsible for the planning and delivery of catering sessions to a small group of students using fresh organic and biodynamic produce sourced from Ruskin Mill Trust's Farms and Gardens and other agreed organic suppliers.
Equip students with valuable catering skills for life after college and the world of work.
Delivering high quality practical skills, teaching and training to students of mixed abilities within the agreed Quality Assurance framework of the Trust.
Delivering qualifications in line with student pathways and embedding communication, word and number into catering sessions.
Have the skill and ability to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning journey of our students in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in developing valuable life skills.
Applicants for this role will ideally hold or be working towards a recognised teaching qualification coupled with experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and possess a high degree of personal resilience, emotional and social intelligence.
Established in 1984, Ruskin Mill Trust is an educational charity that operates in England, Scotland and Wales. We offer exciting outdoor learning environments, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences. Our research-led method, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. Working with hand, head, heart and place, Ruskin Mill Trust helps individuals to re-imagine their potential.
Working at Ruskin Mill Trust is incredibly rewarding; we offer competitive salaries and holiday allowances, an auto-enrolment pension scheme with a salary sacrifice option, a health cash plan and employee assistance programme via Medicash.
In addition, staff receive valuable training opportunities including an in-depth interactive induction to enable our new team members to experience our Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) curriculum and opportunities for further training and academic research including our own MSc in Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.
