Part-time 18.5hrs pro-rata (Grade 3), permanent, shift pattern



Newport City Council is seeking two dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to undertake the role of a CCTV Operative. The duties of this role include monitoring city centre and client CCTV sites, producing evidential material for the Police, handling out of hours calls, radio communications with the Community Safety Warden Service, and Newport Business Against Crime radio service for local traders and licenced venues.



There is a requirement to work an 11 hour, 2-on-6-off shift pattern comprising of day and night shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays within the 24/7 CCTV Control Room.



You will receive training in the role and work towards a front-line SIA CCTV licence, which will bring you up to a nationally recognised standard for the role.



You should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, accuracy and attention to detail, some knowledge of CCTV practices, Data Protection and Human Rights legislation. You will demonstrate a keen ability to work as a team member and as an individual; being able to remain calm in challenging circumstances and to give evidence and attend court where necessary.



The successful applicant will be expected to undergo an enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service prior to commencing employment. Successful candidates will also be required to sign a Declaration of Confidentiality.
