We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Chef de Partie to join our culinary team at The Middlewick. As a Chef de Partie, you will play a crucial role in the kitchen, assisting in the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals that showcase seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. You will work under the guidance of our Head Chef to maintain standards and contribute to the success of our food service operations.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items according to recipes and standards set by the Head Chef.
Ensure all dishes are prepared promptly and to the highest standard of quality, taste, and presentation.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
Collaborate with kitchen team members to coordinate food production and service during busy periods.
Monitor stock levels and assist in stock management, including ordering and stock rotation.
Contribute creative ideas for menu development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and culinary trends.
Support the Head Chef in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and skill development.
Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment and facilities, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and procedures at all times.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Chef de Partie/Sous Chef in a similar environment.
Culinary qualifications or relevant training is preferred.
Strong culinary skills and a passion for cooking with fresh, local ingredients.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from senior chefs.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Most shifts are daytime as the cafe currently is open 8:30-4pm. We do have some retreats, private dinners and events that will require some flexibility with scheduling.
Positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field.
