Established in 1986, Islington Chinese Association (ICA) is a leading London-Based Chinese Charity Organisation, promoting social cohesion across the UK. We provide wellbeing, cultural and social activities to all races and ages.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Centre Operation Manager will support the Centre's daily operations and ensure the effective delivery of projects and services. This includes:
1. Volunteer Management
Recruit, coordinate, and supervise a team of volunteers to support day-to-day activities and operations
Maintain and regularly update the volunteer records
2. Premises & Facilities Management
Schedule and oversee the servicing of facilities and maintenance of the premises
Liaise with contractors and volunteers for minor repairs or renovation projects
Ensure all health and safety policies are followed and the Centre remains a safe and welcoming space
3. Membership & Service Delivery
Promote and grow the Centre's membership scheme
Manage the venue booking system and liaise with hirers
Oversee the Luncheon Club service, ensuring it is both high-quality and financially sustainable
Supervise kitchen staff and helpers to deliver a healthy and cost-effective rotating menu
Maintain accurate records of attendance and statistics for activities, providing regular reports to management and funders
Support the sales of charity products and assist in organising and running regular classes, talks, walks, and tours
4. Office & Financial Administration
Collect and record payments for activities; manage reimbursements and petty cash
Maintain accurate income, expense, and banking records using Excel (and Sage in the future, with training)
Raise invoices for venue hire and other bookings
Maintain an effective filing system and respond to general enquiries via phone, online, and in person
Conduct DBS checks for staff and volunteers
Support the team with day-to-day operations and undertake other duties as required by the Management Committee and Supervisor
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
Fluent in written English and Chinese, and spoken English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to lead and work as part of a team
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
Competent in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and basic bookkeeping
Familiarity with social media platforms and CMS tools (e.g. WordPress)
Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or project management preferred
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required
Contract: Permanent Full-time (5 days a week)
Salary: 31,584 per annum
