The Board Chair leads the Newydd Housing Association (NHA) board, a subsidiary of Cadarn Housing Group. This role ensures effective governance and strategic guidance, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes transparency, accountability, and innovation. The Chair works closely with the CEO and key stakeholders to uphold high standards of governance and ethical conduct

Newydd Housing Association is a charitable housing association, that offers nearly 3,000 affordable homes for rent and sale to people where need is at its greatest in Mid and South Wales, working in several local authority areas.

About the role
You will provide clear leadership and direction to the Board. Guiding the development of the Board's agenda, chairing Board meetings, ensuring productive discussions, maintaining clear communication and accountability with the Group Board. The Chair will ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and governance frameworks whilst also supporting strategic plan development and implementation and reviewing financial accounts to ensure sound business practices. The Chair will represent the Board externally and will be responsible for promoting EDI principles across the Group and foster a culture of inclusion, diversity and respect.
About you
You will need Senior leadership or Board-level experience, ideally in community, non-profit, or public sectors. Your background should be in governance, finance, legal, or human resources with a familiarity with governance frameworks, strategic planning, risk management, and audit processes. You will have strong knowledge and experience of legal and regulatory requirements, finance and audit acumen, cultural competence, leadership and management and strong analytical and problem solving skills.
