Job Summary
Chequers Health is seeking a warm, attentive, and highly reliable
Chaperone
to support our clinicians during ultrasound appointments and ensure every patient receives a safe, dignified, and exceptional experience.
This role is focused on
patient comfort, safeguarding, smooth clinic flow, and 5-star service
. You will support the sonographer during all scans, assist patients before and after their appointment, and play a key part in achieving
positive patient reviews
by providing outstanding care at every touchpoint.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Support & Safeguarding (Core Chaperone Duties)
Act as a professional chaperone for all ultrasound appointments, ensuring privacy, dignity, and patient wellbeing.
Be present throughout intimate or sensitive examinations as per Chequers Health's Chaperone Policy.
Reassure patients, explain the chaperone's role, and ensure they feel safe and comfortable.
Uphold safeguarding standards, escalating any concerns to the Safeguarding Lead.
Maintaining the dignity of all patients.
2. Clinical Room Support
Prepare the room before each scan: ensure cleanliness, restock consumables, set up towels, gel, wipes, couch roll.
Assist the sonographer by handing over consumables, adjusting the room layout, and managing patient flow.
Support with minor tasks such as helping patients onto/off the couch when appropriate.
Clean down equipment and surfaces between patients following infection prevention and control guidelines.
3. Patient Experience & Hospitality
Welcome patients warmly, offer drinks (water/tea/coffee) before/after their scan, and ensure they feel cared for.
Provide a calm, reassuring presence--particularly for anxious or first-time patients.
Observe patient comfort throughout the appointment and proactively offer assistance.
Maintain a quiet, comfortable environment in waiting areas.
4. Reviews & Patient Feedback
Encourage patients to leave reviews (Google/Trustpilot/Friends and family), explaining how their feedback helps improve services.
Capture real-time feedback and share insights with the team.
Identify opportunities to turn a good experience into a 5-star one.
5. Administrative & Operational Support
Escort patients to the ultrasound room and update the sonographer of arrival.
Ensure correct patient identity checks are completed.
Support the Patient Coordinators when needed (phone calls, booking confirmations, tidying waiting room).
Assist with stock checks of ultrasound consumables and notify the team when items need replenishing.
Help maintain clinic cleanliness in line with CQC regulations.
6. Professionalism & Teamwork
Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and patient dignity.
Work closely with clinicians, reception, and management to ensure seamless clinic operations.

Flexible hours driven by patient needs
Desirable (Not Essential)
Previous healthcare support or chaperone experience.
Experience in a customer-facing role or hospitality setting.
Understanding of CQC requirements, infection control, and safeguarding.
