Set up in July 2024, following the tragic death of their nine-month-old son Noah Jordan, Ben and Natasha Jordan founded The Noah Jordan Foundation, a paediatric mitochondrial disease charity.
The Noah Jordan Foundation funds research with the aim of improving clinical management, developing treatments, and finding a cure for rare, terminal paediatric mitochondrial diseases, such as Alpers-Huttenlocher Syndrome. TNJF raises awareness among the public and healthcare professionals through events and training and support affected families with information, services, resources, and financial aid.
About the Role
As our Charity Director, you will oversee the strategic and operational development of the charity. This is a hands-on, multifaceted leadership role that blends day-to-day operations, strategy, and community engagement. You'll be working remotely, with national travel required for events and community engagement, including ad hoc visits to our partners at the Mitochondrial Research Group at Newcastle University.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and managing fundraising materials and merchandise
(leaflets, banners, accessories, clothing, etc.)
Leading communications and campaigns
via our website, social media, Just Giving and marketing materials. This will include local and national media coverage across digital channels, television and radio.
Organising and delivering fundraising events and awareness campaigns
at both local and national levels.
Building relationships with donors, sponsors, businesses, and other stakeholders
, and being willing and able to speak with bereaved families to provide support and guidance.
Managing charity accounts, budgets, donations, applying for grants, and reporting
, including all book-keeping and record management
Coordinating volunteer activities
and fostering a strong sense of community
Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
, including engaging with the Charity Commission as and when required.
About You
You'll be a passionate self-starter with a heart for our mission and the organisational skills to drive it forward. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of digital communications, fundraising, and stakeholder management.
You'll also need:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Confidence delivering on social media and website platforms.
A proactive approach to community and donor engagement.
Flexibility to travel for events and key meetings, which may include weekends, including to Cornwall where the charity was established.
