Dorset Blind Association Charity Shop Manager
35 hours over 5 days per week Monday to Saturday or part time shorter hours are a possibility
Dorset Blind Association (DBA) works across Dorset to provide emotional and practical help and support for people who are visually impaired.
To help fund its wide range of community support services the charity has a small chain of charity shops which also provide people with access to the charity's services. It will be opening its next shop in Sherborne and is seeking a warm, friendly and energetic person, sympathetic to the charity's cause, to take on the exciting role of shop manager.
The shop opening hours will be 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday. The shop will be closed Sunday and Bank Holidays.
The successful candidate will enjoy the opportunity to take real ownership of the shop and will be encouraged to bring their own flair, imagination and ideas for how the shop can become successful. The successful candidate will be happy to take responsibility for the day to day running of the shop, but will also enjoy being part of the wider DBA staff and volunteer team and working with colleagues as part of that team, to promote the charity and help achieve its mission - making life better for visually impaired people in Dorset.
To help towards delivering one of the charity's vital services, the shop will also include a small resource centre, providing information about sight loss and supplying specialist equipment and aids to daily living for people who suffer a sensory disability. Full training for this aspect of the shop's role will be given and this extra dimension will make the job even more interesting and rewarding for the successful candidate.
