Job Title:

Charity Shop Volunteer - Exodus Project (Barnsley)

Locations:

Town Centre Shop*: 31 Market Street, Barnsley, S70?1SL
Cudworth Shop*: 280/208 Barnsley Road, Cudworth, S72?8SU

Commitment:

Flexible weekly shifts (e.g., 4 hours/week); shop open Mon-Sat (times vary by location)

Role Summary:

Support our vibrant charity shops to raise crucial funds for our work with children and young people. You'll help manage donations, serve customers, and contribute to the welcoming atmosphere that makes Exodus unique.

Key Responsibilities:

Sort, prepare, and price donated items (clothing, toys, furniture, etc.) Serve customers, operate till and handle payments (training provided) Organise and merchandise shop displays Maintain shop cleanliness and presentation Share information about Exodus's mission and encourage shop donations Shop floor and back room roles available

Ideal Skills & Attributes:

Friendly, customer-focused demeanor with strong communication skills Team player who takes initiative Basic numeracy and confidence handling cash/card payments Willingness to follow shop procedures and health & safety guidelines Interest in retail & helping local community initiatives

Training & Support:

Full induction and access to ongoing training from Shop Staff and senior volunteers Become part of a supportive "family" culture--many volunteers stay for years
