THIS IS A VOLUNTARY POSITION

Somewhere To Go is a homeless and vulnerable adult charity based in Weston-super-Mare providing a range of services through our day centre.

We are seeking a number of dedicated and strategic Trustees to join our organisation's governance team. The successful candidates will play a vital role in guiding the organisation's mission, ensuring sound financial management, and fostering strong community relationships. This unpaid position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while developing valuable skills in leadership and organisational governance. The Trustee will work collaboratively with other board members and staff to uphold the organisation's values and achieve its objectives.

We are currently recruiting for 4 trustee positions;

1) Director of Business Development

2) Director of Income Generation

3) Director of Estates & Facilities

4) Director of Future Planning

Director of Business Development -

Assist with the business development strategy at board level, ensuring growth plans align with the charity's values and strategic objectives.

Provide advice and challenge on financial planning, commercial activity, and risk management.

Support staff and fellow trustees in exploring new projects, markets, or delivery models that increase sustainability and reach.

Director of Income Generation

Support the senior leadership with grants and bid writing initiatives Support and challenge senior staff and volunteers in developing fundraising plans, grant applications, commercial activities, and donor engagement. Identify opportunities for new funding streams, partnerships, corporate support, community fundraising, and legacy giving. Assist staff with overseeing a sub-committee comprised of volunteers who will be responsible for creating an organising fundraising events
Director of Estates & Facilities -

Lead estates and facilities strategy at board level, ensuring maintenance, development, and use of premises align with organisational needs and regulations. Advise on budgets, long-term planning, and risk management for buildings and assets. Act as trustee-level point of contact for estates issues, incidents, or significant maintenance
Director of Future Planning

Chair the Future Planning Sub-Committee, ensuring effective governance, clear objectives, and regular reporting back to the full board. Assist at a trustee board level, the development and review of 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year organisational plans, aligning them with the charity's mission, values, and beneficiary needs. Work with trustees, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to gather insight, forecast future trends, and explore new initiatives.
