About the Role
You'll lead structural design and delivery across multiple live projects -- from early advice and concept strategy through to calculations, drawings, and construction support. You'll also play a key role in
quality assurance, team supervision, and client management
, ensuring outputs are technically robust, clear, and buildable.
Key Responsibilities
Lead structural engineering work across
multiple projects
(new build and existing buildings)
Manage and communicate with
detail-oriented clients
, setting clear expectations and delivering practical solutions
Coordinate and review outputs from the wider team, including
QA checking
and maintaining high standards
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and consultants to ensure coordinated, buildable designs
Produce and/or oversee:
Structural
calculations
, design notes, and technical reports
Structural
drawings
and details for construction
Design for alterations, refurbishments, and strengthening works
Undertake
site inspections / investigations
and prepare structural reports (e.g., defect/integrity reports) for third parties including surveyors, lenders, buyers/sellers, and project stakeholders
Support the team's growth through
mentoring, guidance, and knowledge sharing
Coordinate workflows with our
Sri Lanka team
(briefing, deadlines, reviews, and consistency across packages)
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal templates, checking processes, and delivery standards
Requirements
Degree qualified in
Structural Engineering
(or equivalent)
Chartered Engineer
(e.g.,
CEng MIStructE / MICE
) -- or near-chartered with a clear pathway and strong leadership capability
Strong understanding of
UK structural design practice
, coordination, and construction realities
Confident producing and checking
calculations and drawings
for both existing structures and new builds
Excellent communication skills (written + verbal) and comfortable client-facing
Comfortable working independently, while also leading and supporting a team
Software proficiency including
Tekla Tedds
and
AutoCAD
(additional analysis/design tools welcomed)
