WHAT TO EXPECT

The purpose of this role is to execute and coordinate the design, development, testing and introduction of suspension mechatronic systems and components, such as active anti-roll and active suspension systems, for use on all vehicle lines. The role requires the individual to deliver commodity plans to quality, cost, attribute and time targets and lead on the technical content and integrity of specific components and systems across specific projects.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design activities for agreed systems and components
  • Lead the negotiation and agreement of targets for the component/system and ensure all programme deliverables are tracked, monitored, delivered and reported accurately and on time at each gateway and organise and lead appropriate interim review events
  • Act as primary point of contact for commodity suppliers
  • Develop and deliver commodity plans to quality, cost, attribute and time targets
  • Responsible for engineering release and managing engineering design data using JLR systems
  • Own and deliver the Engineering elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables
  • Manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of programme milestones and pre-programme engineering.
  • Coordinate internal system rig and vehicle test plans in support of system/component Design Verification and Production Verification
  • Resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet attribute targets
WHAT YOU NEED
  • Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
  • A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
  • A working knowledge of the systems and/or components to which this role covers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
