Job Overview

We are looking for a chef here at The Garden Gate, a Pub 5 minutes walk from Belsize Park underground and 1 minute from Hampstead Heath Overground. We are a Mitchells & Butlers Pub serving classic British food, including Sunday roasts and changing specials.

We are seeking a dedicated and eager to learn and develop their skills as a Kitchen Assistant to lend a hand in every aspect of our kitchen operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that our food preparation and production processes run smoothly while maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. In your role you will work in unison with a strong team of kitchen staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with our hospitality values. We need someone that is confident and comfortable getting stuck in on busy weekends, with specials, prep and who has a background in chain restaurants and its standards would be ideal. However we are eager to hire the right candidate who is excited to join the team and ready to learn. We have excellent progression opportunities with an incredible KM who is eager to pass on her knowledge.

This is a mix of morning, lunch and evening shifts. All applicants must be able to work Sundays, and must have proven experience working in a professional kitchen, comfortable and confident adhering to company specs and standards.

Duties

Assist in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and production. Assist in the training and development of kitchen staff to enhance their skills and performance. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organised kitchen environment. Collaborate with the management team to create menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimising waste. Help coordinate special events or catering services as required. Maintain high standards of presentation for all dishes served. Foster a positive team atmosphere, encouraging collaboration and communication among staff.

Skills

Proficient in food preparation techniques and culinary skills. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production or eager to learn all procedures. Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively. Experience in hospitality settings, preferably within a restaurant environment. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
