We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef de Partie to join our culinary team in a part time role. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing a specific section of the kitchen (e.g., grill, sauce, pastry) and ensuring that high-quality dishes are prepared in a timely manner. As a Chef de Partie, you will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene.
The role will involve 3 shifts per week, Friday, Saturday & Sunday approx 12 noon to 8pm & occasional addition hours for holiday cover.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook food according to the restaurant's recipes and standards, focusing on your assigned kitchen section (e.g., meats, fish, sauces, desserts).
- Assist in menu development by providing input and ideas for new dishes or improvements.
- Ensure portion control and consistency in food quality and presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your workstation and the kitchen area according to health and safety regulations.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, such as Commis Chefs, in your section to ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and report shortages or issues to the Sous Chef or Head Chef.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring all dishes are prepared in a safe, sanitary environment.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during service and efficient cooperation between sections.
- Assist with stock rotation and storage of ingredients to minimize waste.
- Participate in daily briefings and contribute to a positive kitchen culture.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a professional kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and best practices.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
