As you will be working within the care home, it is important that you have good communication skills, both to communicate with the team but also the people that live here.
You will have similar previous Chef/Kitchen Assistant experience within in a similar role within a similar sized property.
Tendring Meadows Residential Home is situated in the lovely countryside of Tendring Green, offering peaceful surroundings in the home. Tendring Meadows offers a large green garden for the residents can use any time they please. Tendring Meadows is spilt in to 4 sections across 2 levels in the home, depending on the individual needs of your loved one offering up to 46 rooms. Tendring Meadows offers each resident personalised care, within a homely environment that is tailored to support adults with dementia.
Experience in catering for up to 45 residents is desirable but not essential. This position is for a Chef/Kitchen Assistant entails catering for the elderly and for residents with special diets.
Duties:
Duties will be to cook a choice of quality meals which are nutritionally balanced whilst utilising quality fresh produce in both menu planning and completion.
Applicants must be able to stock take and order supplies and be familiar with stock rotation.
Applicants must be able to work to Budgets, be aware of the 'Safer Food Better Business' policy advertised by the Food Standards Agency and hold a Food Hygiene Certificate.
Fresh cakes and baking required as part of the remit.
You will be responsible in maintaining an environmentally clean and workable environment. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
Participate in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes.
Ensure that all food production meets quality standards and is served in a timely manner.
Train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen protocols.
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, assisting with ordering as needed.
Food Safety Level 3 Qualified.
Working Hours - 19 Hours Per Week: (Monday - Kitchen Assistant Role - 10am - 7pm and Wednesday - Chef Role - 7am - 5pm)
This role will include the cover of colleagues Annual Leave and Sickness when required.
Experience:
Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting is essential.
Strong culinary skills with knowledge of various cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices is required.
Excellent communication skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
