CTO- The Role



We are seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer with a proven track record in leading technology, SaaS, or DaaS start-ups ideally in in the fintech / insure tech space. The ideal candidate will bring a strong focus on delivering products with speed and scientific rigour, driving efficiency, and championing agile practices.

Key Responsibilities



Technology & Engineering Leadership



Own and evolve the overall

technology and product strategy

, architecture, and roadmap in alignment with product and business goals. Oversee

engineering delivery pipelines

, platform operations, and model development and deployment processes--balancing rigour with iteration speed. Implement and oversee

CI/CD practices

, testing automation, and quality assurance systems. Establish and lead a

Platform Team

to provide shared infrastructure across product teams. Create integrated data-models-platform-deployment roadmap and implement it in an Agile way.

Organisational Design & Team Building



Reorganise engineering and modelling functions into

cross-functional teams

--each aligned to specific model products. Mentor, coach, and manage a distributed team of engineers and technical leads, with clear reporting lines and performance accountability. Provide line management to the Head of Technology and Product Owners, enabling them to focus on technical execution.

Product Development



Work closely with product managers and modellers to decompose complex work packages into

smaller, testable, and demo-ready releases

. Implement a "

Lego brick

" model delivery approach--enabling quicker feedback cycles and incremental client value. Change company culture from current Waterfall-like-methodology with limited market insight to more Agile based, to get client-relevant products in the market.

Operational Execution



Lead compliance decisions, including SOC2 evaluation, and establish governance frameworks around risk, data protection, and secure development. Streamline deployment workflows, reduce key-person dependencies, and ensure robust

incident response and monitoring

systems.

Ideal Candidate Profile



Must-Haves



7+ years

in engineering or technical leadership roles (CTO, VP Eng, Head of Engineering). Proven track record of leading

high-performing distributed engineering teams

and scaling early-stage tech organisations. Experience with

Agile methodologies

,

CI/CD pipelines

, and modern development tooling (Docker, AWS, Python, Jupyter). Strong understanding of

models-SaaS

and enterprise compliance frameworks. Hands-on technical background with the ability to earn the respect of engineers and scientists. Background in

catastrophe/risk modelling

climate analytics

. Prior experience in transforming a high-quality, research-driven product into a commercially successful SaaS platform. Familiarity with Python, scientific computing, and tolerance-based testing frameworks.
