Playmint is pioneering the next generation of on-chain game worlds, where players truly own, trade, and co-create their experiences. We're seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to define and lead our technology strategy. You'll oversee the architecture of our decentralized platform, ensure technical excellence across smart contracts, backend systems, and game clients, and inspire a world-class engineering team to push the boundaries of blockchain gaming.

As CTO, you'll sit at the intersection of Web3 innovation and game design, making critical decisions that shape how millions of players interact with immersive, player-owned universes.

What You'll Do

Define and own the technical roadmap, aligning it with Playmint's long-term vision and business goals. Lead and mentor engineering teams across blockchain, backend, and frontend domains. Oversee the design and scaling of infrastructure supporting multiplayer, real-time, and creator-driven features. Guide smart contract architecture and ensure secure, efficient integrations with game systems. Champion best practices for code quality, testing, and DevOps across distributed teams. Foster innovation in developer tooling, SDKs, and APIs that empower creators and partners. Collaborate with product and design leadership to bring player-owned experiences to life. Represent Playmint in technical partnerships, open-source communities, and industry forums.

What We're Looking For

7+ years of experience building and scaling production systems, with at least 3 years in a leadership/CTO or senior technical role. Deep knowledge of blockchain/Web3 technologies, including smart contracts (Solidity, CosmWasm, or equivalent), wallets, tokens, and decentralized storage. Proven track record architecting complex systems (backend, APIs, multiplayer servers, or distributed platforms). Experience managing and growing high-performing engineering teams. Strong understanding of security, scalability, and developer experience in decentralized ecosystems. Comfortable navigating both technical strategy and hands-on problem solving.

Bonus Points

Experience with Cosmos SDK, Tendermint, or custom blockchain development. Background in multiplayer game server architecture or real-time synchronization. Contributions to open-source projects, Web3 infrastructure, or developer tooling. Familiarity with validator, staking, and provider ecosystems. Experience with Kubernetes, cloud deployments, or large-scale distributed systems.
