We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate child practitioner to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of children within our care. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a background in childcare, and a passion for supporting families in need. As a child practitioner, you will play a vital role in assessing situations, providing guidance, and implementing protective measures for children.
You will need an enhanced DBS and paediatric first aid training is required.
Duties
Promote Child Development
Support children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Safeguard Children
Ensure children are safe and protected from harm.
Follow safeguarding policies and report any concerns about a child's welfare.
Maintain confidentiality and act in the child's best interest.
Support Learning
Help children reach developmental milestones through structured play and interaction.
Use frameworks like the
EYFS
(Early Years Foundation Stage, UK) or local equivalents.
Monitor and record each child's educational progress.
Build Relationships
Develop warm, positive relationships with children and families.
Work in partnership with parents/carers to support children's needs.
Collaborate with colleagues, health visitors, teachers, or social workers when needed.
Maintain a Safe, Stimulating Environment
Set up and maintain safe play and learning areas.
Encourage hygiene, nutrition, and healthy routines (e.g., handwashing, mealtimes).
Ensure toys and materials are clean and appropriate.
Professional Development
Stay updated on child development theories, legislation, and best practices.
Attend regular training (e.g., first aid, safeguarding, diversity and inclusion).
Reflect on and improve your own practice
Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote learning and curiosity.
Observe children's progress and adapt approaches accordingly.
Experience
Previous experience working with children in a childcare setting is essential; experience in a nursery or similar environment is highly desirable.
A background in early childhood education or related fields will be advantageous.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with children of varying ages and backgrounds.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
