Shoots Training are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to complete their Level 2 Childcare Apprenticeship at Butterflies Day Nursery, Bower Lane.
Our Bower Lane Nursery is conveniently located and set within a former farmhouse. The farmhouse offers a unique environment with a home from home feel; it has an extensive garden with its own mud-kitchen and sheltered area for those sunny and rainy days and has off road private parking for both staff and families/visitors.
The building has numerous rooms creating a stimulating environment for the three developmental ages:
Pre-School - ages 3-5 years,
Toddlers - nominal ages 18 months-3 years,
Baby room - ages 3 months - 24 months
At Butterflies we believe that a children's learning comes from a freedom to explore, investigate and discover both indoors and out. We plan experiences and learning opportunities for individual children based on their interests as well as their abilities. Taking our lead from the child, we are able to engage them in stimulating activities that capture their imagination and encourage them to explore their own theories to develop new ideas.
Both Nurseries follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which provides the framework of our service, and as a result any planned activities are created to promote development in the following 7 areas:

Your duties and responsibilities will include;
Adhering to the Policies & Procedures of Butterflies Day Nurseries and compliance with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted/CSIW and the National Standards.
Ensuring confidentiality is maintained in the nursery.
Working as part of a team
Ensure highest level of cleanliness and hygiene is carried out within the nursery.
To work closely with the parent / carers informing them about the nursery and exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parent's involvement.
The care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
Working with the Nursery Nurse on planning and preparation of activities, to meet children's individual needs, liaising with parents and negotiating working targets ensuring effective communication within the nursery.
Offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenge situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.
Keeping of development records and observations
Positive management of children's behaviour.
Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment.
Providing a good role model for Students and help new staff to fit into the nursery.
Keeping accident, incident and risk assessment records.
Supervision of meals and mealtimes and where appropriate preparation of babies' bottles.
Laundry duties
Attendance of staff meetings as arranged by the Nursery Manager.
Participating in regular parents' evenings, publicity, open weekends and children's outings.
Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager.

Requirements;
GCSE grades A-C or 4-9 in Maths and English, or equivalent
Hours;
The setting is open from 8:00am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday
The successful candidate will be required to work 30 - 36 hours per week
