About the role
We are looking to recruit x 2 Childcare Offer Assessors to join the Childcare Unit. This is on temporary a basis to cover maternity leave.
The Childcare Offer Assessor will be required to work as part of the Council's Childcare Unit to support and implement the Childcare Offer programme in Ceredigion and also on behalf of neighboring authorities - Carmarthenshire, Powys and Pembrokeshire.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing parent applications and ensuring that all the necessary information has been received which includes analysing parent's wage slips, self-assessment tax returns etc.
You will be required to provide a high-quality service to customers ensuring that the Childcare Offer applications are determined and administered promptly, accurately and in accordance with the guidance.
There will be a requirement to administer applications on behalf of four local authorities.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential.
On a day to day basis you will:
Accurately assess and award the Childcare Offer entitlement to families meeting the eligibility criteria. Support claims and changes of circumstances and notify families accordingly.
Deal comprehensively and accurately with customer enquiries whether in writing, by telephone or as required. This will include members of the general public, officials from the Welsh Government or County Council, Childcare Providers and staff from partner agencies as appropriate.
To make phone calls to childcare providers, staff, families and other partners to seek information or clarification.
Comply strictly with the security and confidentiality requirements in processing applications for the childcare offer.
Ensure that you have up-to-date knowledge of the computer systems and changes in legislation in order that you accurately maintain and update relevant systems.
Meet agreed performance and accuracy targets and provide a quality service with a high level of customer care.
We are looking to recruit an individual with the following skills:
The ability to undertake a range of work tasks to a high standard using already established guidance, procedures and techniques.
To have a good standard of practical knowledge and skills in IT in particular the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and Web-based systems to a high level in order to deal with more involved tasks.
Excellent customer care and communication skills both verbal and in writing.
Ability to deal with difficult and sometimes irate customers by telephone and personal interview.
High level of motivation and enthusiasm.
Ability to keep good written records, adopt good administrative systems and keep data.
Be able to organise and manage large volumes of work accurately at speed and deliver within given timescales.
