Childcare Volunteers
to join our inclusive and nurturing team. This role supports the learning, development, and wellbeing of children aged
1-5 years
in our nursery setting and children aged
5-11 years
in our
Wraparound Care
provision (before and after school care).
This is an ideal opportunity for

who are seeking to contribute meaningfully within a warm, supportive environment.
Full training, induction, and a DBS check
will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Support staff in delivering a stimulating and safe learning environment for children in line with the
EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)
and
Ofsted
standards.
Assist with the supervision of children during play, meals, rest, and activities both indoors and outdoors.
Provide a warm and inclusive presence, promoting positive behaviour, independence, and confidence.
Support daily routines including arrival/departure, snack preparation, hygiene, and transitions.
Contribute to creative play, story time, arts and crafts, group games, and educational enrichment.
Build meaningful relationships with children, staff, and parents in line with safeguarding practices.
Attend mandatory training sessions and actively participate in team discussions and reflective practice.
Uphold the values and ethos of Blakenhall Neighbourhood Nursery and ensure the welfare of all children.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential:
Passion for working with children in a caring, respectful, and inclusive manner.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A flexible and positive approach to teamwork.
Commitment to child safeguarding and confidentiality.
Availability during term-time, with flexible hours (morning, afternoon, or twilight sessions).
Desirable:
Previous experience as a Childcare Practitioner, Teaching Assistant, Early Years Educator, or in school-based settings.
Retired or semi-retired individuals looking to re-engage with the local community.
Understanding of children's developmental stages and needs (1-11 years).
Basic understanding of Health & Safety and Safeguarding procedures (training provided).
Additional Information
Training & Induction
: All volunteers will receive a structured induction, including safeguarding and health & safety training.
DBS Check
: A fully funded Enhanced DBS check will be carried out prior to starting.
Expenses
: Reasonable travel expenses reimbursed, if required
Volunteering Hours
: Flexible options across mornings (8:30-12:30), afternoons (1:00-4:00), and wraparound hours (3:00-6:00).
