Foundation Play provides high-quality wraparound childcare through fun, active, and engaging sessions for primary-aged children. Our aim is to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child feels happy, valued, and inspired before and after their school day.
Role Overview
As a
Foundation Play Worker
, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, enjoyable, and well-organised sessions during our breakfast and after-school clubs. You'll be responsible for
supervising, caring for, and entertaining children
, ensuring they start and end their school day in a positive and supportive environment.
You will lead and assist with a variety of activities including arts and crafts, games, sports, and imaginative play, promoting teamwork, creativity, and confidence in every child.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and engage children in a range of fun, safe, and age-appropriate activities.
Create a welcoming and positive environment where children feel happy and secure.
Support with breakfast preparation (morning sessions) and snack distribution (afternoon sessions).
Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, and respect among children.
Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health, and safety at all times.
Build positive relationships with children, parents, school staff, and colleagues.
Assist in setting up and packing away equipment and resources before and after sessions.
Follow Foundation Play policies and procedures, including safeguarding, first aid, and behaviour management.
Essential Skills & Qualities
A genuine passion for working with children and helping them thrive.
Reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic with a caring and approachable nature.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with children and adults.
Good organisational skills and awareness of health and safety.
Experience working with children (in schools, childcare, youth work, or sports settings) is desirable.
A Level 2/3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork, Education, or similar is desirable but not essential.
All staff must hold or be willing to obtain an
enhanced DBS check
.
